The Story of Us

STOP "Just Getting Through" Your Day as a Parent.

We help parents move past the stress, the survival mode and wondering "where did the time go?" to unlock everyday joys, adventure and awe.

Create a Family Life Where You Treasure Every Moment.

Drowning in the Busyness of Daily Life?

You're Not Alone

Let's be honest: We all face challenges when it comes to showing up as the parents we would love to be. Maybe you can relate to some of these common struggles:

You find yourself thinking that "real" family life will happen "someday." Right now you're just getting through the days, managing the logistics, putting out fires. You would love to really savor the moments with your family. You tell yourself you'll be more present, more intentional, more fun when things calm down...but they never do.

You're concerned that precious moments are slipping by without being truly lived. Your phone has thousands of photos, but you can barely remember what was so special in half of them. Beautiful moments happen and then fade from memory, leaving you with a vague sense that something important is being lost.

You find yourself snapping or losing your temper in ways that contradict your parenting values. In your worst moments, you become the parent you swore you'd never be - reactive, impatient, stubborn, or maybe wishy washy. Afterward, you spiral into shame and sadness, wondering how that could happen...until it happens again.

You want your kids to look back on their childhood as rooted and magical, not dull or chaotic. You dream of them having warm memories of family traditions and special rituals. You see other families doing it and wondering how they figured it out, while your everyday feels more like "getting it done" than intentional culture creation.

You find yourself on your phone too much, even when you're with your family. You scroll mindlessly while they play nearby, check social media during meals, or reach for your device the moment there's a lull. You know something is off, but the phone feels like the only way to finally have "me time" and decompress from the constant demands of parenting.

You're often second-guessing your parenting choices. Every decision feels fraught. Are you being too strict? Too lenient? What's your parenting philosophy supposed to be anyway? You want the confidence that comes from knowing your choices align with your values.

Your journey into parenthood has been different than you expected, and you're struggling to find meaning. Unforseeable circumstances have left you feeling disoriented and grieving the family story you thought you'd write. You love your child deeply, but you're also trying to make sense of a path you never imagined walking.

You are not alone in any of this. At various points in my journey, I have been in every one of these places.

And here’s the truth…You’re not lazy, unmotivated, or incapable.

You haven’t found a system that works with your brain instead of against it.

That’s about to change.

Hi, I'm Nicolò and I'm glad you're here.

I'm a neuroscientist turned life coach, husband and father.

Over the past 5 years, I have helped 1000+ parents, from a diverse range of cultures and children's personalities, working for some of the most prestigious parenting coaching companies on the planet. Before becoming a coach, I've spent over a decade in cognitive neuroscience research, publishing numerous papers on the brain mechanisms of learning. Underlying all of my work has been the exploration of one central question:

How do we reconcile the busyness of daily life with the deep longing for joy, adventure and meaning?

This question isn't just academic for me. It's deeply personal. Becoming a father showed me more than anything how precious and fleeting every moment is, and how easy it is for me to miss it.

But after years of studying the brain and seeing firsthand how joyful families differ from those who struggle, I made a simple but powerful connection that changed everything:

Our brains use stories to make sense of the world.

Thriving families consciously choose how to weave the everyday moments into the story of their lives.

The secret to a memorable and joyful family life isn’t complicated. It comes down to connecting two basic things:

1️⃣ STORY. Craft a rich and inspiring narrative – including your values, your dreams, how you understand your child and yourself, the journey that got you here, the traditions you want to establish, the legacy you want to leave and the "why" behind your choices.

2️⃣ PRACTICE. Once you know the story you're writing, you need simple daily practices that help you live and author that story consistently, even in the chaos.

Parents often ask how I manage to be playful, calm, composed with my children, able to come up with creative solutions on the spot, even during stressful or chaotic moments. They wonder how I make time to be present for my family without giving up on building my business and looking after my health and personal life.

The answer isn't superhuman patience or knowing all the parenting tricks. It's having a system to intentionally choose the story you're telling yourself about what's happening, and a framework to develop that story in your everyday.

This realisation changed everything for me.

And that’s precisely why I created The Story of Us.

Introducing The Story of Us

The Story of Us isn't another course telling you how you should parent your child. It's a narrative system designed to bring joy, adventure and awe into your everyday family life, built around a philosophy that transforms how you approach parenting.

What Makes The Story of Us Different?

Most parenting programs focus on techniques, schedules, or behavior management: How to handle tantrums, How to set boundaries, How to get kids to bed, etc. They instruct you on what to do to handle situations better, but rarely help you discover who you want to be while handling them or the why for your choices.

To be clear: tactical advice can be useful. However, meaningful parenting is not just about following a recipe. Have you ever noticed that most parenting advice, even when useful in the moment, leaves you with a lingering taste that something fundamental seems missing? That's because what you're looking at is "how to solve a problem", not "how to tell a story".

But your brain finds adventure, joy and awe in stories, not problems!

The Story of Us takes a fundamentally different approach. I've distilled everything I've learned about leaving a meaningful life - from scientific research, personal experimentation and coaching hundreds of parents - into one comprehensive system that addresses both the story and the practice components of a memorable family life.

Pillar 1: Story

The Story pillar helps you craft a rich and inspiring family narrative. Through deep reflection and discovery, you'll:

  • Discover your family's roots, values, and dreams

  • Rediscover your child's authentic nature (it's evolving every day!)

  • Transform your personal challenges into wisdom

  • Uncover the golden thread that connects all chapters of your life

  • Build a vision for the adventures and experiences you want to share together

  • Build the "why" behind your parenting choices so you can make them with confidence

Pillar 2: Practice

The Practice pillar gives you simple daily tools to consistently embody your family story, even in the chaos. You'll learn how to:

  • Truly see and connect with your child daily

  • Build emotional skills that help you become the calm center of your family

  • Create family story time, rituals and traditions that build connection and meaning

  • Turn bucket list dreams into real family adventures within 30 days

  • Replace mindless phone scrolling with in-real-life activities that bring your family alive

  • Use story reframing techniques to transform challenges into character development

Our Philosophy

At its core, The Story of Us is built on a philosophy that parenting should be enjoyable, sustainable and meaningful.

These aren't complicated techniques that add pressure to your life. They're simple practices that transform how you experience family life. When you consistently live your story through small daily actions, parenting stops feeling like survival and starts feeling like an adventure you get to create.

What makes The Story of Us truly powerful is the integration of the two pillars. When you combine the depth of your story with effective daily practices:

You wake up knowing exactly who you want to be as a parent, instead reacting from stress

You transform the hardest parenting moments into family wisdom

The beautiful moments stuck, because they have a home in your larger narrative

You launch into adventure even when the conditions are not "perfect yet"

Your parenting choices feel intuitive, instead of overwhelming

You leave a legacy that your kids can trust and participate in creating

The Story of Us isn't about knowing all the tricks - it's about pausing to decide who you want to be and creating practices that make meaningful family life intuitive.

You don't have to let another precious year slip by wondering "where did the time go?". It might be time to start authoring your family's story💟

Let me show you more in details what the journey looks like.

I was petting the cats, in the sunny yard of the house I grew up in, in Italy.

My dad paused what he was doing and stood still for a moment. I could feel his eyes on me. Then he said with a gentle voice:

Sarai proprio uno bravo papà” - You’re gonna be such a great dad.

In that moment - I can still feel my hand on the cat's soft fur - for the first time in my life, I saw myself as a father. It felt beautiful, inspiring, emotional. And I knew it was true. That moment became part of my identity.

It happened because of how my dad chose to author that moment.

This wasn't about managing a tantrum.

He could have moved on and kept busy.

He could have said nothing.

He could have made clever observations about cats.

But he chose to tell a story of fatherhood, of joy and destiny. And he shared it with me.

Simple stories, Huge impact

Picture this:

Your 4-year-old melts down at the store because you bought the wrong cookies. The package of cookies is on the floor - as your crying toddler. Other shoppers are staring. Your heart pounds. You feel heat, embarrassment, frustration.

In the past, you would have told yourself a story of this being nonsense and blurted out: "Stop making a scene!".

But today, you see an opportunity to become the person you want to be when life gets hard. A chance to model how humans work through big feelings together. A moment to help your child learn how to handle disappointment.

In a split second, you choose to kneel down and say: "You're really upset about those cookies". Your child hugs you. The crisis is gone. Your bond feels more solid than ever.

Or this moment:

It's 6 AM and your preschooler crawls into bed, their hair still messy from sleep, traces your face with tiny fingers, and whispers "Mama, I like to give you lots of kisses". Your heart breaks open with joy so powerful it almost hurts.

You want to freeze this moment forever. The weight of their small body against yours, the complete trust in their voice, the way the morning light filters through the curtains in this pocket of awe.

But by 7:30, you're rushing through breakfast and snapping about shoes. The gap between the parent you are in quiet moments and the parent you become under pressure feels impossible to bridge. You wonder: How do I carry the tenderness of 6 AM into the chaos of 7:30?

The answer: You need a better story, and a way to practice it in the moment.

I'm in awe of how you get to the root of an issue and help us to think about how we're thinking and processing things. It's not advice you're giving; it's a new lens and realization that we can change the beliefs that we've picked up along the years. My husband and I both got so much out of the chat and we will be watching the replay for months and years to come.

Who The Story Of Us is for

The Story of Us is designed for parents ready to create a meaningful life from the whirlwind of the everyday. It's perfect for:

  • Parents who want more than survival mode: You love your kids but you want to feel like you're truly living these years, not just enduring them.

  • Parents lacking consistency: You know how you would like to show up, but emotions and old ineffective ways keep getting in the way. You want to "walk your talk", acting in accordance with what you truly believe.

  • Parents questioning their approach: You find yourself second-guessing decisions and wondering "What's my parenting philosophy supposed to be?" You want confidence that comes from knowing your values.

  • Families wanting to build their roots: You don't want to just parent from a manual. You want traditions, rhythms, and stories that reflect who you are.

  • Families feeling scattered despite good intentions: You want to weave the special moments and deep conversations into something coherent and meaningful.

  • Parents feeling the clock ticking: You're acutely aware that childhood is fleeting and you don't want to look back with regret about what you missed or didn't savor.

  • Families ready for deeper connection: You want more than parallel lives under the same roof. You're craving intimacy, shared meaning, and genuine joy together.

Who The Story Of Us is NOT for

The Story of Us isn't for everyone. This journey is not for you if:

  • You want quick fixes or parenting hacks: This isn't about techniques to make your kids behave better. It's about the deeper work of conscious family creation.

  • You're looking for child development or behavioral strategies: We focus on family story and meaning-making, not sleep training, screen time or discipline techniques. That being said, the mindset you bring and the stories you're telling yourself about such topics have huge importance, and that's what we look at.

  • You're not ready for self-reflection: The program involves examining your own story, values, and patterns. If you're not open to inner work, this won't resonate.

  • You prefer rigid rules over discovery: We don't give you a parenting manual to follow. We help you discover your own family's unique path.

  • You're not willing to invest time in practices: Real transformation requires consistent, small actions. If you're not ready to engage with weekly content and daily practices, this isn't the right fit.

The Story of Us requires a willingness to see family life as a creative collaboration and parenting as an opportunity for both your growth and your children's. If that excites you, welcome home.

Frequently Asked Questions

My child/my family is in crisis. Is this the right fit?

This program alone is not the right fit for families in acute crisis. If your child is experiencing multiple daily meltdowns, showing signs of self-harm, or you're dealing with severe behavioral challenges, you need focused, tactical parenting support first (we can provide trusted recommendations). However, here's what's also true: Working on your mindset and examining the story you're creating for your family will be an essential piece of your family's healing journey. The way you see yourself, your child, and your family's challenges directly impacts how you navigate them. The Story of Us can be a powerful complement to more targeted intervention work, either pursued in parallel (if you have the bandwidth) or after you've stabilized the immediate crisis. Many parents find that once they've addressed the urgent behavioral needs, they still need support in processing their own emotional responses to the challenges, rebuilding confidence in their parenting and creating a family narrative that includes the struggle without being defined by it. If you're unsure whether this is the right timing, we encourage you to schedule a Family Story Discovery call. We can discuss your specific situation and determine whether The Story of Us would be helpful now or if you'd benefit from focusing on crisis support first.

What if at some point I just need some parenting advice?

The Story of Us is not a parenting advice program. Our mission is to help families discover and live their story, not tell you how you should parent your kids. That said, we have worked with hundreds of parents. If specific parenting questions come up during our journey together, we can share ideas in the spirit of "Here's what I've observed – see if that helps." But it will be offered as perspective, not expert directive. If you need ongoing parenting advice and strategies, we can recommend books and/or specialists to work with alongside this program. The Story of Us complements that tactical work beautifully by helping you parent from your authentic self rather than just following techniques. Bottom line: Come for the inner story work and family meaning-making. The occasional parenting tip is a bonus, not the main course.

I'm not a writer – can I really 'author' my family's story?

You're already writing your family's story every day through your choices, responses, and the meaning you create from experiences. We're not trying to become novelists here. We're becoming aware of the narrative we're already creating and making them more intentional.

What if my family isn't naturally 'story-oriented'?
Every family has stories, you just might not recognize them yet. Some families are adventure stories, others are quiet connection stories, while others yet are about learning, work ethics, faith, growth, achievement, sacred duties, belonging... This is the beauty of this work: the process is universal, it's something we have been doing since the dawn of time. Whoever you are, this program can help you discover your family's natural narrative style and build from there.
What if I don't have time for more reflection and journaling?
This program is not about writing long journal entries. It's about seeing your daily life through a story lens, which actually makes parenting easier, not harder. When you see a tantrum as character development instead of a crisis, you respond differently. When you see bedtime struggles as a plot point instead of a failure, you stay calmer. For many people, the reflective work in this program ends up replacing the mindless scrolling on their phone, turning time-wasting habits into a source of joy and purpose.
Will this make family life feel forced or artificial?
The opposite. When you're authoring your story consciously, everything feels more authentic because you're living from your true values instead of just reacting to circumstances. Your kids will feel the difference between manufactured family fun and genuine story creation.
What if we're already a close family – will this still help?
If you're already close, this will help you capture and deepen that closeness. If you are already starting with good relationships this work will give you plenty of opportunities to savor, protect and strengthen that love, within and across generations.
